主题：	ContextServ: A Platform for Developing Context-Aware Web Services

提要：	Context awareness refers to the capability of an application being aware of its physical environment or situation (i.e., context) and responding proactively and intelligently based on such awareness. Context awareness is one of the most exciting trends in computing today that holds the potential to make our daily life more productive, convenient, and enjoyable.However, current Web services are still largely inflexible and hard to adapt themselves to changes. In this talk, I will overview a large research project conducted at the University of Adelaide, ContextServ (http://cs.adelaide.edu.au/~contextserv/). Sponsored by Australian Research Council (ARC), this project focuses on developing a model-driven framework to simplify the task of creating and maintaining context-aware Web services.

主题：	PeerTrack: Towards Scalable, Internet-based RFID Traceability Networks

提要：	Tracking and tracing individual objects is a powerful capability that is essential to many aspects of modern life such as manufacturing, logistics of distribution, fighting terrorism, and anti-counterfeiting. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that as much as 10 percent of the half-trillion-dollar pharmaceutical market is counterfeit. Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is a wireless communication technology that is useful for precisely identifying objects. RFID uses radio-frequency waves to transfer identifying information between tagged objects and readers without line of sight, making automatic tracking and tracing possible. However, several issues (such as uncertainty, large volume, and distributed environments) need to be resolved before such RFID traceability applications can be fully realized and embraced. In this talk, I will overview a large research project conducted at the University of Adelaide, PeerTrack (http://cs.adelaide.edu.au/peertrack/). Sponsored by Australian Research Council (ARC), this 5-year research project focuses on developing novel framework and techniques to enable scalable, Internet-based RFID traceability networks.

主题：	CloudArmor: A Framework for Trust Management of Cloud Services

提要：	Cloud computing is a fast growing technological trend designed to allow users to access unlimited storage and computational power at their fingertips. Companies such as Amazon, Dropbox and Microsoft provide such services, and more will emerge in the near future. There is a high level of anticipations in cloud computing and its exciting potential in transforming the world we live in. Yet, cloud computing poses many kinds of obstacles. One such obstacle centers on the trust management of cloud services, which is not an easy task due to some unique characteristics of cloud services. Determining the credibility of trust feedbacks is a significant challenge. It is difficult to know how experienced a cloud service consumer is and from whom malicious trust feedbacks are expected. Furthermore, it is difficult to recommend trustworthy cloud services that suits all cloud service consumers because of the variety in cloud services' functionalities and features. In this talk, I will overview various activities in a research project conducted at the University of Adelaide, CloudArmor (http://cs.adelaide.edu.au/~cloudarmor/).

Michael Sheng博士的个人简介

Dr. Michael Sheng is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the School of Computer Science at the University of Adelaide. Michael holds a PhD degree in computer science from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Dr. Sheng’s research focuses on several areas such as service computing, Web of Things, cloud computing, pervasive computing, and big data management. Dr. Sheng has more than 160 publications as research books and edited proceedings, refereed book chapters, and refereed technical papers in top journals and conferences including ACM Computing Surveys, VLDB Journal, Computer (Oxford), IEEE TPDS, DAPD, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Computer, IEEE Internet Computing, Communications of the ACM, VLDB, ICDE, ICDM, CIKM, WWW, ICSE, ICSOC, ICWS and CAiSE. His research has been regularly cited by his international peers.

Dr. Michael Sheng is the winner of the 2012 Chris Wallace Award for outstanding research contribution, a top honour given to only one person each year from computer science researchers in Australia and New Zealand.

Dr. Sheng has been invited to serve on organizing and program committees for dozens of international conferences including WWW, WISE, ICSOC. He is the program co-chair of AWC 2013, APWeb 2012, MobiWIS 2011-2012, WAMIS 2010-2011, publication chair of WISE 2005, PDCAT 2007, and publicity co-chair of MDM 2014, ICPS 2010, ICSOC 2005, WISE 2007. He is a member of editorial board for several international journals including Service-Oriented Computing and Applications (Springer) and a guest editor of several special issues in leading journals such as ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, World Wide Web Journal, Information Systems Frontiers, and Personal and Ubiquitous Computing.
